Painter Hideki Kimura has had a unique career as a producer of rock music since the dawn of Japanese rock music, and has been painting since his 60th birthday in 2002. Many of his works have been painted on the streets, from fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) in the Kacho-den of Shoren-in Temple in Kyoto, to murals at Kyoto City Zoo, Baseball stadium, and commercial facilities. Motifs used in traditional Japanese art, such as koi carp, peonies, and peafowl, dance expressively with eye-opening colors, and the dynamic compositions painted on walls and ceilings are rich in rhythm and dynamism, which can only be expressed by having lived with rock music for half of his life.
